Oscar Pistorius, the 24-year-old double-amputee runner from South Africa , says he wished he could have competed in the 4x400-meter relay final in South Korea last week and earned the silver medal at the world championships. But Pistorius was left out of Friday's race. "We decided before the heats that the slowest runner on the team in the prelims would not run the final," L.J. van Zyl, a teammate, told the Associated Press. "Unfortunately, Oscar's leg was the slowest." But he couldn’t have been that slow, really. Pistorius – known as the Blade Runner for the prosthetics he wears – actually ran a strong leadoff leg in the heats that helped his team to a third-place finish and a South African record. In my books, he’s still a winner.
